Inspiring Stories of Nature-Based Climate Initiatives
The purpose of this personal project is to focus on the abundance of positive things that are happening in the world. To share the ordinary, the extraordinary, and the just plain hopeful solutions to the climate challenges we face.
Sharing Ideas that Spark the Imagination
My hope with this blog is that more people will find the same sort of curiosity and inspiration that I have, and maybe even want to get involved or start an initiative of their own. And how knows, maybe even start a movement?
Nature-Based Topics
There are so many initiatives that capture my imagination and remind me of how fascinatingly intricate and beautiful the natural world is at working things out.
I may add or subtract topics as I go along, but below are my favorites for now. The plan is to take semi-regular dives into inspiring and innovative solutions to understand how they work and the potential they offer.
(Some dives may be deeper than others: my apologies in advance for the occasional very much longread!).

The Topics Shortlist
· Rewilding – Ecological restoration aimed at rebuilding natural ecosystems and increasing biodiversity by re-introducing large mammals and reducing human influence in self-sustaining natural processes.
· Urban heat solutions – Strategies for mitigating the urban heat island effect, including trees and other green infrastructure, cool and reflective surfaces, and stormwater management.
· Wetlands and mangroves – Conservation efforts to protect and restore these areas that play crucial roles in biodiversity, ecosystem services, freshwater support, providing essential habitat for a wide variety of plants and wildlife, and mitigating damage from floods and storms.
· Agroecology and regenerative agriculture – A system of conservative and rehabilitative land use management that integrates polyculture and maximal recycling, along with other natural processes, to increase biodiversity, optimize the helpful interactions between plants and animals, and increase the vitality of agriculture and farming practices.
· Biophilic design – A framework for building with a direct and indirect experience with nature for an enriching, multisensory environment to provide environmental, economic, and mental health benefits for inhabitants.
